Sweater season is almost here.

I love a cozy sweater. Thank goodness there are endless style choices this season. Cropped, asymmetrical, long, oversized, fringed, frilly, colorful, edgy — yes, everything you can imagine.

This one, in particular, I have my eye on. Made with touches of mohair and wool in a chunky, slightly open knit, this asymmetric hem sweater by Ann Demeulemeester spawns a plethora of fabulous looks for fall. It comes in cream and black for easy outfit coordination, whether on the neutral or colorful side.

Hail to the sweater!

YSLtheshockShocking indeed!

There aren't many mascaras that impress me. However, this one lived up to its name.

Mascara and I go way back. In fact, ten years ago I started The Mascara Report due to overwhelming disappointment in the world of mascara. And while I wish I had the time to continue the report to help guide lash enthusiasts in the right direction when selecting a mascara, this will have to serve as my stamp of approval.

Mascara should serve your purpose. And yours may be different than mine. I have high expectations and I realize it. However, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to find the perfect mascara match. My absolute musts — volume, length and positively no clumping, smudging, smearing or flaking.

How did The Shock fare?

There is no doubt this is the most volumizing mascara by Yves Saint Laurent. The hourglass shaped brush allows the formula to grab hold of lashes. Because of that, it lengthens automatically. What was most shocking for me was the ability to get the look that I wanted without compromising my need for 'work all day' mascara. Literally in one coat it did everything I wished for with complete ease. It's even sweat proof! Yet, at the end of the day, it comes off incredibly easy (and I have no idea how YSL does it). The only drawback is the life of The Shock. A month to a month and a half can be expected. In my book, well worth it.

marnibagfw17You can tell I am in fall buying mode for clients, as my mind shifts to everything dark. Yet, one surprise here — a color-punched strap.

This adorable, black leather Marni bag with teal accents features a foldover top with clasp closure, an accordion-style interior, gold-tone hardware, a top handle and a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. It's highly functional and, of course, timelessly elegant.

While the Tuk crossbody bag is perfect for your day adventures, it moves effortlessly into evening.

While you will typically find me in all white during the summer, I do not shy away from black.

Did you know that black best absorbs heat and, therefore, is more cooling than white garments? In fact, black also absorbs energy from the body instead of reflecting it back (like the color white).

The key to wearing black in the summer is keeping to lightweight fabrics. Anything too heavy or clingy will make you look and feel uncomfortable, so opt for cotton or linen in lightweight finishes. Pair with chunky heels or wedges. Throw in a little balance by showcasing your skin — perhaps a bit of shoulder or leg.

Pre-order season is upon us.

This is when I do my fall shoe buying for clients. However, it's also when I pick up a few things for myself.

Hands down, my favorite shoe on earth is the bootie. Comfortable. Functional. And, of course, stylish. Because of the amount of time I spend in them, I can't seem to have enough. So it's nice to add a little punch to my collection from time to time.

This bejeweled version of the most-wanted Bacari bootie by Stuart Weitzman is chic, elegant and loaded with personality. The rounded square toe delivers daytime into evening allure. Wear them with everything from leather skinnies to midi shirt dresses.
