I've never been a fan of Halloween. Not even when my kids were younger.

It might have something to do with the fact that I am terrible at decorating for it. And dressing up — so not my thing.

However, if I were going to, say, a masked ball, I might have to pull out this little number. Ooooh, that hair! Well, and the mask. After a busy week of clients — packing for trips, dressing for events and fall shopping — I think I'll just fall into my chaise lounge. Oh, right...that is after the lacrosse tournament, tending to puppy and ensuring my daughter makes her Halloween events.

No rest for the weary.

chloecoatA little chill in the air.

Last Saturday, it was more than a chill. It was downright cold. Or, was it because it was the first of the season?

I ran into a friend this morning and he brought the whole concept of 'first' to light. When we move from summer into fall, there are days that surprise us. No matter how much we want fall temps to grace us, when we experience an unusually cold day, it's a shock to our systems.

No reason not to be prepared. How about with this Chloé wool-blend black coat with furry shearling trim collar. The two-way zip front and slightly stepped hem makes an elegant statement no matter what you're layering it over.

Ivory handbags. My favorite.

No surprise that The Row has mastered the beautifully simple, yet impeccably constructed, handbag. This fall's Drum 10 bag has been crafted in Italy from off white pebbled leather. The roll shaped style has a curved top zipper that opens to a roomy canvas-lined interior. And two ways to carry it — top handle or over the shoulder.

Much to do before catching my flight to NYC this morning.

Quite frankly, I am not sure I will get everything done before I leave. However, I have to trust that what doesn't get done will be okay not getting done. It will still be there when I return. And this girl needs to spend her energy on the streets of the city I love. That's where I do my best work, after all.

Here's to working hard. And here's to knowing when to hang up, disconnect and just let it be.

The anticipation of fall.

Goodness to come.

That doesn't mean you can't embrace a little fall right now in this crazy heat.

Last night we had dinner with friends. Delightful, as always. And I didn't let the heat dictate what I was wearing. Yes, I was smart enough to think it through. All in all, I was quite comfortable. What did I wear? A black and white sleeveless knit dress, black cropped leather jacket and black patent booties. Somehow it didn't seem too soon.

You have to do what feels right to you. However, a little nudge here and there may help.

Start simple. Perhaps summer shorts and a sheer sweater with tan suede fringe booties. Or, a floor length cotton dress with oxford shoes.
