I love to run! It's been 5 weeks and I'm thrilled to say I'm back on the streets.This past February, I pulled my hamstring. Bad pull. Lots of pain. However, I mustered through. Running was no longer my friend. I went from running daily to 2 times a week. Then, I just stopped. I realized I needed to give my hamstring an opportunity to heal.
After 5 long weeks, I'm back! And it feels so good. Quite frankly, my mind needed it as much as my body. But since we're on that subject, I happened to gain 6 pounds during those 5 weeks. Within 8 days, 3 pounds disappeared (thank goodness). Running is not only great exercise, but it puts me in a healthier state. My eating is just better when I run.
Did I get the stamp of approval to start running again? Not really. But sometimes you have to break the rules, as we do in fashion. No repercussions, so far. Adding running to my daily Pure Barre workouts has really made a difference, too.
While I don't make a fashion statement when I run, it is super important to have the right gear. Nothing fussy. I am a huge fan of lululemon, but Nike running shorts fit me best. Plenty of room and just the right length. As for a sports bra, lulu's Adjust Me bra offers the perfect amount of support without a ton of fabric. I also love lulu's racerback tank tops. Mizuno makes my favorite running shoe, year after year. And the socks must be thin, without giving slip.
Time to hit the pavement, tune out and enjoy the time alone!
