What a mix! Workout gear, lip balm and hand towels — and then some. Enjoy our April reviews.

gradeAlulurunwildhalflululemon: Run: Wild 1/2 Zip
Let me start by saying — love! This lightweight running layer is awesome. It certainly came in handy during early spring when the temps dipped. It's nice and long and doesn't ride up when running (thank you). The side pockets rock. I cannot tell you how much I have stuffed into them during a run. And the mesh venting is genius. You can also wear this over your yoga or Pure Barre workout attire. The neon piping is super fun, too!

gradeC3Scents & Feel: Fouta Hand Towels
As much as I was excited to add new hand towels to my bathrooms, these have been a bit difficult to manage. I bought two coral ones, one black with tiny white stripes and the other white with two black stripes. Interestingly enough, the solid color towels have been a pain! They are proving to only be ideal for show versus use (not absorbent, no matter how many washes). The biggest issue I have with them is after each wash, I have to rebraid almost every strand to get it looking somewhat decent. The two other striped towels have not given me a single issue, and they look as good as new. Why can't there be consistency among the variations?

gradeAILIA: Sheer lipstick in Arabian Knights and Bang Bang
I was recently introduced to this ethical-sustainable line — up to 85% certified organic bio-active botanicals. Not only do I love the sleek packaging of this lipstick, but I am totally digging the sheer color than deepens with each swipe. Arabian Knights mixes deep tones of violet and burgundy. Bang Bang is a light berry color. You can choose your intensity based on how you apply it, which is the best part. It truly can go from day to evening. And it soothes and conditions lips. For the neutral lip gal, this is the perfect stepping stone, as the color is sheer and completely controllable.

gradeAtsaprilfeaturesTwisted Silver: Queen ring, Pixie bracelet
This cameo ring is truly unique. For one, it's huge (so fun). It definitely gets the attention of others. And it also dresses up or down with ease. And the Pixie bracelet is such an easy piece to wear alone or layered with other bracelets. I am obsessed with the links in this chain. So cool!

gradeAMurad: Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser, Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer SPF 15
I’m a push-over for a foam cleanser. I like the lightness and foaming action in the shower in the morning. So I was excited to try this new cleanser by Murad. The pomegranate smell is subtle and refreshing. It’s a cleanser and toner in one, stimulating healthy cell function. I love how it makes my skin feel. I found it to be gentle, non-irritating and cleanses without drying the skin. And the lightweight, oil-free moisturizer delivers all-day moisture and broad spectrum SPF 15 protection (though I’d still wear a bit more sunscreen). Zinc and copper condition and balance to leave skin silky smooth. It's perfect for warmer temps when light moisture is all that’s needed. It absorbs right away and gives my skin a healthy glow. Make-up is easy to apply over top and does not leave my face oily.

gradeB1Talullah Cosmetics: Punk Rock Pink lip gloss
*
I know what you're thinking — that's a crazy bright color! But it's not. This lip gloss is the perfect mix of purple and pink in a sheer, yet generous formula. The shine and staying power are phenomenal. It's a must for summer!

gradeB1Rodin Olio Lusso: Lip Balm*
This luxurious hydrating lip balm hosts a ton of fabulous ingredients, such as a blend of jasmine, orange flower oil, shea butter, beeswax and castor seed oil. The packaging is gorgeous — a modern-style lucite compact that fits easily into your purse, pocket or lululemon zip pocket. It layers beautifully over lipstick, too.

March was a wild ride! There were many fantastic products brought to our attention, not to mention one that included our male product reviewer. Boy was he thrilled! Get your pen ready. Time to take notes.

gradeASenna Cosmetics: Lip Lacquer in Bling Bling
This moist, smooth gloss gives a sheer looking color to lips. I particularly like the Bling Bling color — a soft golden sparkle that is easily a great look all by itself or layered with your favorite lip color. Senna’s lip products have a delicious vanilla flavored formula that is light and enjoyable. It is a lacquer, so it’s quite thick, but it stays on and stays in place. I love that it contains Vitamin A, E, C and jojoba oil for extra conditioning.

gradeB2philipstrimmerPhilips Norelco: Vacuum Stubble and Beard Trimmer
This product is geared toward daily trims, keeping your facial hair even and well groomed. The battery holds a charge for almost an hour, so you can skip shaving with the cord (which can be difficult to maneuver). My wife loves the beard trimmer more than I do. When I complete my daily trim, there are no hair clippings in the sink. This is the best feature, and alone worth the price of purchasing the razor. The razor is fairly light weight and has a sleek trim design, making it easy to hold. The barrel which collects the hair clippings is easy to remove and empty after a couple of shaves. From time to time, coarse hair can get caught on the comb, which makes the shave uncomfortable. I wish there was a solution for this. Otherwise, it's a fantastic trimmer.

gradeAlululemon: Adjust Me Bra in Quiet Stripe, Every Yogi Long Sleeve
I love the Adjust Me sports bra! For running, yoga, pure barre — anything, really. It's extremely supportive while not taking over. Some sports bras are just too much bra. This is just right. You can wear it two different ways, criss-crossed in the back or straight over the shoulder. I love the stripes, too. That kind of pretty detail you don't mind peeking out from your tank top. The Every Yogi long sleeve tee is so cozy, I needed two. I have the 2-sided navy/white stripe and the gray/seafoam green. The length is awesome, as it stretches long over jeans or leggings. These tees get a ton of wear. My only complaint is in the wash for the striped one. After the first wash, areas of the shirt along the seams bled and turned pink. While that doesn't stop me from wearing it, it really shouldn't happen. That being said, the striped tee doesn't quite live up to an A grade in all aspects, but the tee in general (non-stripe) certainly does.

gradeAlakebraceletTwisted Silver: Lake Bracelet
This is a cute, eco-chic bracelet for spring that can easily transition into summer. Tumbled recycled glass in an icy blue-green color on a hearty brown leather strap, this Twisted Silver bracelet can be worn alone or stacked for a casual look. The bracelet embraces both the pastel craze for spring and the earthy look. It’s definitely a casual piece that I’ll be wearing a lot this spring!

gradeANatura Bissé: Oxygen Complex*, Oxygen Cream*
There isn't much about the Natura Bissé line that I don't love. And these two particular products have been amazing for my skin. Formulated for all skin types, and for both men and women, this silky serum helps purify skin and restore radiance and vitality. Paired with the moisturizer, even skin tone and softer, supple skin is what you'll get. My skin is super hydrated and glowing. Love!

gradeAcordaniwedgeCordani: Vergil Woven Wedge in Gray
The. Most. Comfortable. Sandal. Ever. I love the Cordani brand. Ever so comfy with style, to boot! And this wedge is no exception. It requires no break in time. It's easy to walk in, regardless of the heel height. It fits my narrow foot well. This shoe is so fantastic, I stopped back into Step by Sloan to sing its praises! Definitely the perfect 'work in my clients' closets' spring/summer shoe for me.

There were so many amazing products to be reviewed in February, that it took a bit longer than anticipated. Our apologies for the delay. This past month certainly provides a wide range from fashion to beauty to skin care products. We hope you enjoy!

gradeAbbbraceletTwisted Silver: BB Bracelet
With the season of wrist stacking, this is one bracelet that provides fun, as well as style. I love the BB nature of this bracelet. The multi-strand brass beads antique with time and the easy attitude that's added with layers is major. Love!

gradeB1Laura Mercier: Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Khaki
Surprise, surprise from this eye pencil! It's so versatile, as it can be used as all over color, in addition to being used as an eyeliner. I was shocked that as smooths as it goes on, it does not smear or smudge during the day. It stays put. Wow! And it creates a perfect smoky eye.

gradeAvinyasascarfLululemon: Vinyasa Scarf, Wunder Under Crop in black
First, the Vinyasa Scarf. I have two — a dark one for fall/winter in brushed luon and a light one for spring in the Rulu™ fabric. Both are super soft. They travel beautifully and double as a blanket on the airplane and in a car. I love the versatility of use. Cannot live without (and a little addicted). As for the Wunder Under Crop, as recommended by my sister-in-law Cindy, this was a surprise love. Do I like tight, form-fitting pants by nature? No. However, they are a necessity for yoga, Pure Barre and as it turns out, running. They don't move ... as in riding up or down. I am a fan. Just wish my tushie looked better in them (but that's my problem).

gradeDNew Balance: Men's Custom US574 Sneakers
While I have always bought New Balance sneakers for my son (it's the only athletic shoe that fits his large, wide feet) and I will continue to do so, this shoe certainly did not stack up to the quality that I've come to expect from the company. My son and I customized his sneakers, which was a ton of fun. We even put his initials on the heels of the shoes. To our surprise, the shoes arrived 4 days later. They were custom, so I anticipated a longer turn around. And as a result, I found the custom color pieces glued on versus sewed on. Within 2 days, the shoes were literally coming apart from every end. I called NB and they were concerned and gracious, and sent a new pair. I asked them to take their time, we were not in a rush. Again, they arrived with days. Same experience within 2 days of use. I ended up taking them to my local cobbler. A big frustration for an expensive pair of sneakers.

gradeB2Bare Escentuals: Deep Cleansing Foam
This foaming cleanser is not only fun to use, it smells great and it rids of black heads (yay). The best part, the tube lasts forever, as very little product is needed to lather into a rich foam. It cleans wonderfully! I wish it were a bit more hydrating, though.

gradeAjingaibronzerJing Ai: Sierra Glow Duo Bronzer
This is one of the most natural bronzers I have ever used. It's beautiful on the apples of cheeks, as well as on eyelids. It instantly warms up your face, so you look refreshed and healthy. It's infused with certified organic Wild Rose petals from Brazil to help nourish skin; it's rich in Vitamins A & E; and it's free of parabens and petrochemicals. And the packaging is awesome! The liner paper can be planted, wild flowers growing in its place. Jing Ai bronzers come in a 100% recyclable and biodegradable rolled edge container. In addition, Jing Ai gives back by donating 5% of its proceeds to Feel Your Boobies, a grassroots organization that focuses on promoting proactive breast health in young women. Love this bronzer. Love this company.

gradeB1Vincent Longo: Bang Bang Lip Volume Lotion*
This super hydrating lip plumper is not your typical plumper. In fact, it's anything but typical. There's no crazy tingling sensation. But it delivers major moisture to smooth your lips. It's a lotion, and a little goes a long way. Lips look a titch fuller, not bee-stung. At night, I use Bang Bang under my lip balm to treat my lips with extra TLC.

January may have come and gone. However, the fabulous products we tested linger on. How fortunate for us, as these are stellar products!

lmradiancegradeALaura Mercier: Foundation Primer - Radiance
The new version of an already fabulous primer, Radiance, makes it possible for everyone to get that beautiful, healthy glow we try so hard to achieve. The primer blends into the skin easily and provides the perfect base for foundation or tinted moisturizer. Don't have to save this for a special occasion. You'll want to sport luminous skin all day or evening long!

gradeAlululemon: Infinity Scarf in gray/white stripe
When something is great, it doesn't stick around in the stores, or online, for that matter. As is the case for lululemon's Infinity Scarf. Pure heaven is what it feels like. In fact, there is rarely a day I don't wear it. And if I'm not wearing it at a particular moment in time, it seems to follow me ... as I might want to touch it or put it around my neck.

newattitudenecklacegradeATwisted Silver: New Attitude Necklace
This is such a great staple necklace! The mixed use of metal means that it goes with everything, no matter what. The style also provides a wide range of options from casual to dressy. And this necklace is super lightweight! The best part is the ability to change the look of the necklace based on where you hook it in the back, as it's adjustable. Personally, I love it close around my neck, choker style. Über chic!

gradeB1Hourglass Cosmetics: Film Noir Mascara
I love being introduced to new mascaras — brands that I don't run across everyday. What a pleasant surprise it was to experience this winner by Hourglass. I knew immediately by looking at the brush that I was going to love this mascara. It has pinwheel bristles that create volume and length. Two coats of this stuff and you have major drama! I have never met a mascara yet that doesn't clump at all, even toward the end of its 3 months' use. This stuff is amazing!

gradeB1messecawedgeMesseca New York: Green Velvet Wedge
When I saw these shoes online, there was no need to ponder the purchase. I mean, seriously. Within 2 seconds they were added to my closet. The price was ridiculous for the quality (and they are on major sale right now). The plush jewel-tone green velvet is scrumptious and the gold bar at the heel is a nice detail. They are really comfortable, though a bit wide. I had to put gel inserts at the toe bed to keep my foot from moving. This peep-toe wedge certainly turns heads!

gradeANaila MD: Skin-Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer in medium
This 3-in-1 product is fantastic! It not only moisturizes the skin, but it also provides gorgeous sheer color while shielding your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays with over 4% titanium dioxide. I am surprised with the amount of coverage this provides ... definitely more than your typical tinted moisturizer. And it feels like velvet on your skin!

gradeB2emijayhairtiesEmi-Jay: Hair Tie
I'm thinking this might be another obsession. Thank goodness it's an inexpensive one! These elastic trim hair bands work well in hair and ensure no ponytail dent is left behind. The colors are super fun and I always have a few waiting on command around my wrist. The only draw back, they stretch out after a couple weeks wear. That's why you'll want to buy a pack!

gradeB1Kumani: Shea Restore Anti-Aging Cream for Tired/Mature skin
I love that this company is a Fair Trade only company. And this product, which contains Fair Trade Certified Shea Butter, hydrates magnificently with the lightest of formulas. It also contains Baobab Oil and Vitamin E to help firm and smooth wrinkles, repair elasticity and stimulate collagen cells. The perfect pampering moisturizer.

A busy, busy December it was. And an interesting one. Let's call it a mixed bag ... some great, some good and some not so good.

gradeB1dolanshearlingcardiganDolan: Shearling Cardigan
Talk about cozy goodness. This cardigan delivers warmth like no other. I love that I can live in this cardi inside and outside my home. I wish it were cut in a more flattering style (it's a little boxy), however, I love it all the same.

gradeC1Crest: 3D White Vivid Toothpaste
This toothpaste cleans exceptionally well and leaves your mouth minty fresh for hours and hours. However, that long-lasting freshness comes at a price. Somehow, there seems to be some kind of film that is left behind and shows up unexpectedly throughout the day in uncool ways. As far as whitening, my teeth seem to maintain a certain level of whiteness, so it's hard for me to tell. After 2 months' use, I didn't see a difference, but the fact that I maintained signals that it must help in that area.

gradeAlululemon: Quick Step Pant in black, Scuba Hoodie in white/black microstripe
I live in lululemon when I work out, which is daily. So it has to be functional and fashionable. Lululemon delivers, every single time. The Quick Step Pant is my favorite. While I can't run in them, I can Pure Barre in them. And I lounge around the house in them. I just ordered another pair, as they're now on sale! The Scuba Hoodie is another phenomenal product, providing warmth, comfort and style. It hugs you for a fitted look, yet has plenty of room to move around in. The long length of the sleeves and thumb holes are perfect for this time of year. It's one of those hoodies you don't want to take off. Ever.

gradeB2Burt's Bees: Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
This natural cleanser infused with orange oil and soap bark extract gentles cleanses and leaves skin soft and hydrated. This is best for dry skin, in addition, best used in the winter months. It feels a bit heavy coming off. And sometimes, it doesn't seem to wash off all the way. You really need a hot muslin cloth to thoroughly do the job.

gradeAHourglass: Film Noir Lash Lacquer
This product does exactly what it's intended to do — take your lashes from day to night! Volume, length and shine, this lash lacquer gives you the drama you crave. It doesn't take long at all to apply. You simply swipe it over your existing mascara. You can apply to the ends, for a winged out look, or all over. I even apply to my bottom lashes. There are so many looks you can create. You'll enjoy playing around with it. And it contains no parabens, sulfates or phthalates.

gradeDMaison Francis Kurkdjian: Absolue Pour le Matin
Every now and then, a fragrance comes along that leaves a lasting impression. And not in a good way. Enter: Absolue. While it boasts a melding of woody dry amber and the flower of violet, I can't seem to get past the smell of diapers. It's supposed to be a clean scent. However, I don't particularly want to smell like clean diapers.
