As fashion week perusing continues for FW14 (look for my thoughts around the themes in the Charlotte Observer and Raleigh N&O), I must look forward to the season right in front of us — spring. So much fabulous detail, as seen here from the Balmain spring collection.

Don't get me wrong, I love winter and am thrilled with the snow coming our way (minus the ice). However, now is the time to focus on your spring wardrobe. Look for my spring forecast coming soon. Oh, and don't forget I have a style challenge coming your way!

I'm not saying the midriff is here to stay, but it has certainly made an impact over the past few years. Through winter and into spring, belly baring ensembles abound.

Personally, I love a high waisted skirt with a cropped top or sweater. My belly is in no shape or frame of mind, currently, to consider that option. However, I am inspired to get myself into the shape to dare to bare this summer. At least around the house.

Daily running, barre classes and booty lifting exercises will hopefully get this bod back to what it was before the holidays.

I adore Alexa Chung. And her style. Very 60s, with the music scene influence. She's low maintenance. Never too neat. But requires liquid eyeliner at all times.

Get a glimpse of her shoot for My Theresa and learn what she has to say about personal style.

This is what fascinates me about photo shoots. The emotions that pull you in. I am enjoying Vogue's exclusive clips, The Editor's Eye. You get a real sense of the motivation and point of view behind such a shoot. After having completed a photo shoot with a well known national magazine in November (due out next week), there is nothing more gratifying than looking back at the images, over and over again, reliving each and every moment.

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a special Fall Preview Party at Neiman Marcus SouthPark. It happened to be the same day I received The Book, so I was well armed with my favorite looks. Many of which came straight from 'The Art of Fashion' photo shoot with Drew Barrymore. What a gorgeous spread. And this Tom Ford suit — get out!

The trends that Neiman Marcus will focus on this fall are bold gold, bordeaux, leather, color blocking, fur, handheld bags, lady chic, pumps and shimmer. Here are a few of my picks to get your blood pumping!

The night wouldn't be complete without visiting with two of my very favorite models, Brooke and Starr — as gorgeous as they are talented!
