Funny hats, prairie shoes, hip pads — Marc Jacobs was all about the kookie. And it was definitely a jaw dropper, as usual. Unfortunately, the collection falls into my 'unwearable' category. Especially the oversized coats and unflattering hem lengths. This is where the show prize goes to 10 Crosby Derek Lam for creating awe-inspiring lookbooks per season. I crave every outfit!

While Band of Outsiders brought the rugged southwest to New York, my favorite looks were more refined. Speaking of, kudos to Christian Siriano for designing a seriously chic and streamlined collection. One that any girl would be overjoyed to wear.

From city slickers to glamutantes to the street savvy, New York Fashion Week brings on the themes. And there are many to explore. Not to mention color!

This season, your breakdown of the runway comes to you in the form collage visuals. This multi-part recap will come in select doses to excite your senses. The last installment will include a final tally of carry-overs and emerging themes so you'll know just what to expect this coming fall 2012.

Just as we look forward with much excitement about what spring has in store for us, fashion week is back. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week officially kicked off in New York today. The Fall 2012 collections will run through February 16th with over 90 designers showing at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park.

Having covered fashion week in person, I can attest that the right wardrobe will make or break your experience. Reality check: if you are covering the shows, think in layers. It's cold, so warm items are key. And flat boots are a necessity for walking the streets of New York and standing in long lines between shows. There is no doubt you will collect many goodies along the way, so the bigger your bag, the better. This will also allow for a quick change to any evening events and after parties you attend — simply change out your shoes and whip out a clutch.

This would be my go-to outfit if I were attending in person this season. Instead, I will be enjoying resort season! No worries, though. You will still get all the same great coverage you've come to expect from fashion week.

The last two days of fashion week were exciting — but not how you think. Marc Jacobs was not the one to watch. Can you guess who was? And check out the BEST DRESS of the entire week, right here!

It just keeps getting better! Day 5 and 6 brought major style goodness and inspiration for spring 2012. I even have behind-the-scenes photos from the Oscar de la Renta show, featuring model Marilia, whom I worked with in April for the Art of Style event.
