Welcome, spring. You certainly took your sweet time to get here. And I can see that parts of you don't really want to make a commitment. But I beg of you, please stay.

It took me far too long to post this forecast for spring. Shopping with clients has taken precedence. However, I have given you glimpses over the past several months. Now we can dive into what the season has to offer.

Let's talk color. This season, the black and white dynamic duo continue on. Pink is huge (and all the way into fall). Red, coral and orange make an appearance. And the typical pastels are present. Metallic makes a comeback in clothing and accessories.

Prints come in the form of artistic and tropical. As for overall vibe of the season, it's definitely relaxed. In fact, pants shy away from skinny into a straight meets boyfriend cut (and even wide leg). Jumpsuits are not going away. And know that they become more relatable into fall. Much to my satisfaction, overalls have hit the big time. It must be the memories associated with overalls that account for my love of them (trust me, they are cooler now). Athletic styles mix nicely this season, bringing popularity back to the shirt dress.

Crops, crops and more crop tops. The midriff has been around, but it is now mainstream. The easiest pairing to try on this trend with is high-waisted skirts, pants or shorts (or overalls). Jackets gain momentum and cuts go angular. And speaking of toppers, sophisticated bomber jackets take the place of cardigans.

Fabrics include leather (especially perforated ... and in accessories, too), mesh, lace, denim-on-denim and crisp cotton.

As for accessories, shoes make a jump into sexy this spring. Stilettos trump platforms and caged booties are back. Wedges are still around, however, news flash β€” flats are the deal! In fact, sandals, sassy flats and sporty sneakers take over completely. Top handle handbags are the new go to, including dark in color (i.e., black). And fringe handbags, as well as backpacks, get noticed. Jewelry goes layered in fun ways. Nails are showcased in metallic to pastel colors and in designs such as fancy stripes and moons. Chopped locks and major curl are two hair style themes you will notice all around you. And this is the year for lips β€” in pink, of course.

When in doubt of trends, trust your gut. But know that a little risk brings a lot of excitement into your life. Even if it's only for a day.
