savethesharkspaletteHold the phone.

Here comes another must have for spring.

Chantecaille is known for creating the most spectacularly beautiful palettes. And this one is no exception.

Inspired by the freshness of the ocean, this limited edition palette combines the bold and the feminine. Showcasing three fabulous eye shades — Great White (all over white sandy beige), Grey Reef (glistening sandy grey) and Black Tip (deep ocean blue) — and one golden coral cheek shade, this will fast become your 'go to' look. Best yet, 5% of the proceeds from the Save the Sharks Palette will be donated to the BLOOM Association to ban unregulated shark fin trade.

While snow is predicted this evening (and I seriously want it to happen), my forecasts for spring 2013 unveil, bit by bit. Starting with lips!

Bold lips will continue to take center stage this upcoming season. Which means, there will be plenty of room for experimentation. Fashion designers Giles and Holly Fulton showed matte fuchsia lips on the runway. Fulton even added orange for a punchy pout.

While spring doesn't typically conjure up visions of oxblood, designers Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu were digging the deep, mysterious lip for the season.

As for gloss — move over! It's all about the matte mouth.

neutralholidaylipsLast Saturday night was the big holiday black tie event we look forward to every year. It's quite the evening of extravagance. And for the first time, I decided to have my hair and makeup done by a professional.

You'd think I'd partake in these services for all of my events. However, I actually love doing my own hair and makeup. Well, makeup anyway.

This year, Charlton Alicea, of Jeffre Scott and Varji & Varji, completed my look with a bronzy smoky eye, fabulous neutral lip and soft flowing curls. Pause — if you know me, you know I never wear a neutral lip. Ever. In fact, you will find me in some shade of berry at all times. But I have to tell you, this combination of neutral was the most perfect neutral for me. Especially with my sultry eyes!

Charlton started with *Susan Posnick's Marrakesh lipstick and then topped them off with *Rilastil's Sparkling Bronze lip gloss. Two simple products. One phenomenal combination.

As for the hair, those soft curls were amazing. And I learned something while sitting in the chair. Charlton taught me how to get the biggest and best curls ever with a curling iron. I must feature it soon, as it's definitely worth passing on. I also learned that it takes a whole lot of hair spray to keep those soft flowing curls at attention until 3am.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the three stunning ladies I had the pleasure of hanging with at Jeffre Scott's while we all got made up for the same event. I love the fact that our makeup perfectly complemented each of our personalities and attire. Best of all, the four of us had a blast together, after only meeting that night! And our makeup was flawless well into the wee hours.

*Available at Jeffre Scott in Charlotte and Turner & Scott in Asheville.

Makeup should always complement what you're wearing. And with an adept hand, it completes your look — as if you weren't even trying.

As we are on the topic of flawless holiday looks, I must mention a few of my favorite beauty products that grab attention any day of the week, not the mention during the holiday season!

What I Can't Live Without:
  • Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow in Fantasme lightly dabbed over your favorite eye shadow
  • Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color (pick your poison, it's the best eyeliner on the market for ease and staying power)
  • Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara (goes on big with easy layering ability)
  • *Kevyn Aucoin Volume Mascara (tiny brush to get every last lash — and it coats/tubes lashes so no flakes or smudges)
  • Chantecaille Gel Brow Liner Pencil (easy to create a smoky eye and the gel makes it smudgeproof)
  • *Natura Bissé The Cure Sheer Cream (gives the illusion of undeniably perfect skin)
  • *BECCA Bronzing Skin Perfector (add to areas of your face where you want a sunkissed glow)
  • Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Scarlet (throw some lip balm over top for Hollywood glam — I prefer this over Lip Maestro)
  • Essie Leading Lady nail polish (holiday favorite)

*Available at Jeffre Scott in Charlotte

galipmaestroOne big holiday down. A few more yet to come.

Which has me a little stressed out at the moment — knowing that I'm nowhere near checking anything off my list. How was I so prepared last year?

Now that holiday parties have commenced, my focus is on fabulously flawless holiday looks. Starting with lips!

I must admit, I haven't tried Giorgio Armani's matte lip lacquer yet. Though, you can bet it will be on my lips tomorrow. I cannot wait to try this new generation of lip color — velvety smooth finish mixed with intense, bold lacquer. It claims to have hours of staying power, with impeccably easy touch-up ability. With twelve colors, you can go as light or dark as you like.

To me, this is the perfect holiday lip. Old Hollywood style!
