cavalliclutchShow-stopping clutches are sometimes just what you need. Whether it befits a basic ensemble, or you simply prefer to hold something spectacular in your hand.

While a practical clutch that goes with everything always serves a purpose, I am drawn to over-the-top collectors' pieces.

Enter Roberto Cavalli.

This brass box clutch with leopard print satin is protected by a gunmetal cage featuring a gold-toned phoenix and two eagles. This pleases both those seeking a little edge, as well as those craving true luxe.

A winner all around.

Years ago, I fell in love with designer Brunello Cucinelli. The clothing is simple luxe. Last spring, I could have worn every single piece on the floor at Neiman Marcus. If I had a million dollars laying around, that is.

Now I find myself obsessing over these two bags, in particular, from the fall handbag collection. The rich cranberry/wine cashmere suede duffel that has a velvety finish. And the calfskin laminated shoulder bag that has been chrome-tanned and drum-dyed before being treated with a particular finish that gives the surface a striking metallic effect. Both are absolutely delicious!

minibagsThis fall, handbags are down-sized.

Mini versions of your favorites are popping up everywhere. However, are they practical?

While I think they are absolutely adorable — and depending on the occasion, suitable — on a day-to-day basis, I gravitate toward a roomy handbag.

If you are considering a mini, spend some time in front of a mirror. Scale plays a big role. Is it one you like on you? Or, do you feel like a giant-sized Alice in Wonderland?

It's easy to get caught up in its cuteness. However, your lifestyle should always be top consideration when investing in a handbag.

Just looking at this piece of luggage makes me want to skip town. It's bright and happy. And durable.

This 26" cruise suitcase by Globe Trotter is reinforced with leather corners and has a leather top handle. I love the metal key lock closure. The inside showcases ecru cotton lining and internal adjustable straps.

So, where are we going? Some last minute escape, I think. With school almost back in session, there is no time to waste!

There isn't a pre-fall bag I've met that I don't like. So much goodness on the horizon. One constant theme — straps! While I prefer to carry my purse in the crutch of my arm, having the ability to hoist it over my shoulder, or cross body, is a bonus.

Talk about color! Cornflower blue, boysenberry, blush, watermelon. And of course, fabulous neutrals. Now is the time for pre-fall orders. You will find a plethora of delicious options. Though, I warn you, practicing self control won't be easy.
