YSLtheshockShocking indeed!

There aren't many mascaras that impress me. However, this one lived up to its name.

Mascara and I go way back. In fact, ten years ago I started The Mascara Report due to overwhelming disappointment in the world of mascara. And while I wish I had the time to continue the report to help guide lash enthusiasts in the right direction when selecting a mascara, this will have to serve as my stamp of approval.

Mascara should serve your purpose. And yours may be different than mine. I have high expectations and I realize it. However, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to find the perfect mascara match. My absolute musts — volume, length and positively no clumping, smudging, smearing or flaking.

How did The Shock fare?

There is no doubt this is the most volumizing mascara by Yves Saint Laurent. The hourglass shaped brush allows the formula to grab hold of lashes. Because of that, it lengthens automatically. What was most shocking for me was the ability to get the look that I wanted without compromising my need for 'work all day' mascara. Literally in one coat it did everything I wished for with complete ease. It's even sweat proof! Yet, at the end of the day, it comes off incredibly easy (and I have no idea how YSL does it). The only drawback is the life of The Shock. A month to a month and a half can be expected. In my book, well worth it.

My toes were in desperate need of attention this past weekend. And due to my binge watching of the final season of Bloodline, I took matters into my own hands.

Sally Hansen truly has some amazing colors. One of my favorites in the color collection is Shell We Dance, a super soft, feminine pink. While this picture showcases fingernails, it's just as gorgeous on toes! I do believe it's my favorite natural look for feet.

Now this is doable.

One of the big makeup trends this season is what's known as the blush bomb. Essentially, blush is applied from the cheekbone and up and around the eye area. Not practical. Not very attractive, either, quite frankly.

Reem Acra interpreted the trend in a translatable and relatable way — softly and squarely on the apples of the cheeks. While I am not a big blush girl, this seems manageable on the days I want a little extra oomph.

Call me boring. I still love a good gray.

Spring '17 has me all over the board — soft neutrals to highlighter piping detail in clothing and accessories. It truly is a great time to express yourself, as demonstrated with my styling clients.

While my nails are no great shakes these days (comes with the job ... those darn hangers), I am finally getting around to painting my nails. It's been quite some time. No seriously, at least 8 months. My daughter and I enjoyed a mani/pedi last week and now I am hooked.

This gray nail lacquer is just gorgeous! Labeled a feather gray, Grace by JINsoon is a light, cool gray that is so beautifully displayed on fingers and toes. All JINsoon formulas are 5-free and formulated without harsh chemicals such as formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin and camphor. JINsoon nail lacquers glide on smoothly, dry really fast and are long lasting. There is even UV filter protection. And, of course, no animal testing.

When you can sniff your pits in the midst of a sweatfest and say, 'wow, my armpits smell delicious,' you know you've landed on a great deodorant.

Yes, I said that — and out loud! Which led to folks inching closer to me at a lacrosse game. It was hilarious. Honest to goodness, this is the best deodorant I have come to test. And it's all natural, to boot!

For the past several years, I have been using natural deodorants. It hasn't been difficult making the swap from toxic to natural beauty products, really (well, except for hair care — natural doesn't really work on an unnatural redhead). The Agent Nateur line happens to carry my top two picks for natural deodorants, my second favorite being Agent Nateur N3 Deodorant that boasts a trace of honey, lavender and eucalyptus.

Agent Nateur & Shiva Rose h o l i ( R o s e ) N4 deodorant is a sensual and exotic blend of sacred sandalwood and heart opening rose. The scent truly is intoxicating. The ingredients are simple: organic coconut oil, sodium bicarbonate, beeswax, sunflower butter, avocado butter, castor oil, rose essential oil, sandalwood essential oil and love. Brilliantly formulated.

Expensive? Yes. And absolutely worth it.
